Resumo:
A filosofia e a grandeza da civilização grega que se perpetuaram na história chegam a nos iludir com sua profundidade e beleza. Não se pode deixar de retomar os estudos dessa civilização e verificar que, ao lado desse mundo de luz e claridade, veio a subsistir um mundo de sombras e violência, principalmente no que se refere à Atenas, onde primeiro despontou um estado democrático. O governo ateniense não demonstrava uma boa atuação em relação às questões político-administrativas da Cidade. O remédio para essa situação está na escolha radicalmente oposta àquela sobre a qual se funda a democracia: só confiar o poder àqueles que sabem: a sabedoria é, para Platão, o critério maior da capacidade de deliberar.
