Resumo:

O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar o argumento de Habermas, desenvolvido no texto “O Futuro da Natureza Humana”, segundo o qual a prática de intervenção genética de aperfeiçoament mina a distinção entre  “aquilo que nasceu naturalmente” e “o que foi fabricado”, distinção que até então constituiu a base de nossa autocompreensão ética enquanto seres humanos que se consideram nascidos em condições de igualdade e de liberdade. Assim, pretende-se discutir: a) como a programação eugênica poderia afetar a autocompreensão da pessoa geneticamente programada, limitando sua autonomia individual e alterando a suposta relação simétrica entre pessoas livres e iguais? b) a partir da perspectiva da transformação ética da espécie, como podemos olhar para o futuro da natureza humana? Que tipo de reflexão poderá reintegrar nossa autocompreensão como seres morais se considerarmos a evolução humana como uma passagem a um pós-humanismo?  

Abstract:

Aim  of  this  paper  is  to  present  Habermas' argument, developed in the text "The Future of Human Nature", according to which the practice of genetic improvement intervention undermines the distinction between "what was born naturally" and "what was manufactured", distinction that to the present day has constituted the basis of our ethical self-understanding as human beings who consider themselves born in conditions of equality and freedom. Thus, we intend to discuss: a) how the eugenic programming could affect the self-understanding of genetically programmed person limiting their individual autonomy and changing the supposed symmetrical relationship between free and equal people? b) from the perspective of ethical transformation of the species how we may look to the future of human nature?  What kind of thinking is able to reintegrate our self-understanding as moral beings if we consider human evolution as a passage to a post-humanism?
